Changan and Shenzhen Huawei sign a strategic cooperation agreement

On November 10, 2014, Changan Automobile and Shenzhen Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., signed a strategic cooperation agreement. This agreement covers connected car technology, international business development, information technology and other areas of innovation, as well as collaboration opportunities.

This agreement shows Changan’s commitment to the global expansion of the Chinese auto industry through partnership initiatives with another of China’s leading brands.

Two national brands join forces to achieve a win-win collaboration

Changan is well aware that the world is rapidly changing. With the prevalence of the internet and big data, we are operating in a dynamic marketplace. The information economy has affected how business is conducted around the globe. As a company in the traditional automotive industry, Changan aims to keep up with new technology and become invincible among ever-changing global competitors.

As the No.1 Chinese automotive brand, Changan’s cumulative sales exceed 10 million. With its rapid growth and an average increase of 7000 new customers every day, the company is in need of solid IT infrastructure. The synergies created through the joint efforts of Hwawei and Changan should propel the business even further.

Accelerating the speed of globalization

Changan began its globalization journey in 2003, establishing research and development centers in Turin (Italy), Yokohama (Japan), Nottingham (UK), and Detroit (USA) - all while entering overseas markets such as South America, Russia, and Iran. But during its overseas expansion, the company has realized that varying global communication environments and market rules can bring distress. Changan Automobile believes that the process of global integration is the process of information integration. This is why the company has chosen to partner with Huawei, a leading global information and communications solutions provider. Operating extensively in overseas markets, Huawei’s products and solutions have been deployed in more than 170 countries, serving one-third of the world's population.

According to the agreement, Huawei will use its global experience and resources to provide Changan the technical support it needs. Huawei can also assist Changan’s overseas branches in a number of areas including vehicle infomatics and security, transportation and maintenance of equipment, consulting services, and on-site technical support.

Enhancing the competitiveness of Chinese brands

According to the agreement, the strategic partnership in connected car and intelligent automotive sectors covers areas such as vehicle communication equipment, multi -screen interaction, and mobile chips.

The agreement will also prompt cooperation in information technology consultation as well as in the establishment of IT infrastructure, allowing Changan greater access to big data. Huawei will actively employ its expertise in information management and security on Changan’s behalf.

Changan vice president Zhu Huarong believes that the Industry 4.0 era will be here very soon as this is the next direction of global manufacturing: Industry 4.0 comprises more than just changes in technology and production processes, it also requires adjustment of the overall organizational structure. To keep up, we must never operate like an island, we must be prepared with forward- thinking and strategic vision. Big data and cloud computing will be used in the fourth industrial revolution, which will disrupt traditional manufacturing. Changan Automobile has taken note of these changes and will keep up with this trend with the assistance of its strategic partnership with Huawei.
