Changan M201 production launches in Malaysia

On July 28th, Changan Automobile officially launched the M201 at the Johor Bahru assembly plant, located north of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

The facility covers an area of 60,000 square meters and has an annual build capacity of 24,000 vehicles.  The senior leader of Berjaya China Motor (Changan's local distributor), Changan International's leader and branch leaders, sub-dealers, media representatives, and potential customers were in attendance.  In all, more that 100 people witnessed the new M201 roll off the line.

Changan began serving the Malaysian market in 2009.  Since then, the company has built a very strong presence.  Local annual sales volume ranks second in the market segment, just behind Daihatsu.  Changan has become one of the most popular brands among local consumers.  The company intends to raise its brand awareness and reputation in Malaysia by increasing the availability of right-hand drive vehicles, growing market share, and expanding distribution channels to lower income consumers.
